 Open Source Penguin is dedicated to bringing you the lastest news, reviews, how-to's, etc about the Linux operating system as well as many popluar open source applications. I have created this site to educate people about the use of Linux and other open source projects. My goal to help ease your voyage into this new frontier and/or further your current knowledge. At first glance the use of open source software can be both intimidating and mysterious. Mysterious because it's a brand new world, you don't know much about it, and you have probably heard plenty of myths and rumors. Open source projects aren't new. They have actually been around for a number of years. They have just started to really gain press and momentum over the last several years though. This can be attributed to a number of famous projects like Linux, MySQL, Apache, etc. On
my site you'll see that I am advocating the use of Linux and other open
source projects over the use of Windows and other proprietary (closed
source) systems. I'll make my points as to why throughout the site. |
